Algeria - Support to the implementation of a new strategy at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Agronomie of Algiers

The ENSA, formerly Institut National Agronomique, is the oldest and most important agricultural education center in Algeria. For the last few years, a new leadership, including an ICRA alumnus, is in place and has developed an ambitious strategy of renovation of the center's organisation as well as its training methods.

ICRA has been approached in order to contribute to this strategy, both bilaterally and multi-laterally (together with other mainly French education organisations, including SupAgro).

Nour Sellamna has visited ENSA several times to outline, first, a new Master course, and (with Arno Maatman) to explore other areas of cooperation. During his last visit in June 2012, Nour Sellamna attended a meeting to help ENSA plan an action research project in the Southern part of Algeria. This project aims at analyzing the innovation system around greenhouse vegetables production, with a view to developing new training on rural innovation.
