Rwanda, facilitation in agribusiness clusters and value chains and NICHE/RWA/100

In 2009 and 2010, ICRA staff provided some backstopping to IFDC-CATALIST .

In 2011, ICRA implemented a training course to partners of IFDC- CATALIST and of AgriProFocus (IPER) on facilitation in agribusiness clusters and value chains. ICRA’s Toon Defoer also made two films for IFDC on integrated soil fertility management and charcoal production. Follow-up coaching and training was foreseen but did not materialize, beyond the field assignment of ICRA ARD course participants in Burundi, within the framework of IFDC/ CATALIST.

In 2011, the MDF was awarded a NICHE project (NICHE/RWA/100), Development of a gender-sensitive Agroforestry/Forestry/Agriculture Extension Centre at the National University of Rwanda (NUR). ICRA is part of the consortium that will implement this project.
The inception phase started in October 2011. The project will in particular foster gender-sensitive approaches to extension, and to the management of the extension centre.
