Sharing experiences between interdisciplinary PhD research programmes

A workshop on sharing of experiences between interdisciplinary PhD research programmes related to agricultural and rural development was organised jointly by Wageningen International and ICRA, from 11-12 December 2008, in Wageningen, the Netherlands. The workshop was funded by the Dutch budget of the ERA-ARD project. Within the context of ERA-ARD it brought together representatives of a number of European interdisciplinary PhD research programmes in the field of ARD and some of their African partners to learn from existing experiences.

This workshop contributed to strengthening European collaboration in the field of capacity development in ARD within ERA-ARD (which ICRA has long advocated for in ERA-ARD).

The workshop attracted ample interest of European organisations and was received with great enthusiasm. It was realised that this was a first step for stronger interaction at European level and that there is still a lot to be done in this field. Workshop report (pdf, 1368K) .
