ARD Learning Resources

Meeting the challenges faced by rural change requires "new" professionals, who are not afraid to keep learning. As part of ICRA's strategy to facilitate capacity building in ARD, we are happy to share our learning resources here:

The “ARD learning cycle” – the activities and questions we see as a basis for organising and learning about ARD;
ICRA handouts on related concepts, research approaches and methodological guidelines – you are welcome to download and print our handouts for use in your own organisation, as long as this use is not for profit;
Links to some of our favourite web pages on ARD-related topics.

The Collective Innovation Resource Book for South Africa that was compiled and published in 2009 also is a wealthy source of information on ARD. Download the complete book or download per chapter.

You can use these pages in several different ways: as part of a structured learning event organised by your own institution (with ICRA as a partner if you wish); as a guide to help you and your team involve relevant actors in jointly planning and implementing activities that address a shared research and development challenge; or simply to browse.
