Gender in Agriculture: A World Bank Learning Module. Simple and straightforward - another good place to start. Women's rights and citizenship at the International Development Research Centre is worth visiting. Interesting also is the publication by Naila Kabeer on Gender mainstreaming in poverty eradication and the Millenium Development Goals. A handbook for policy-makers and other stakeholders(2003), free downloadable. The User's Guide to Poverty and Social Impact Analysis, developed by the World Bank outlines an approach for PSIA and gives an analysis of intended and unintended consequences of policy interventions (2003 Pdf, 660 Kb). Social Analysis Sourcebook, from the World Bank. Broad-based look at incorporating social issues into design of World Bank Projects, linking to and incorporating concepts/approaches such as stakeholders, participation, equity, gender, etc. Gender and Food Security.. General site from the FAO. Gender dimensions in natural resource management. Pages from Sustainable Development Dimensions of the FAO, Women and Population division. Issues of gender and biodiversity and local knowledge systems. Case studies, etc. IFAD has formulated a Gender action plan for 2003-2006 in order to mainstream the gender perspective in all its operations. Useful are also the Guidelines for incorporating Gender into rural development and the Tools and Guidelines on Gender, the latter are mostly for project planning and design. Gender and Household Food Security gives a slide presentation on this topic. Also check out the “Knowledge notes” for case studies on gender and agriculture in different countries. Participatory Research and Gender Analysis Programme of the CGIAR/CIAT.
